Katie Zale

Katie Zale, originally from South Elgin, IL, developed a strong foundation in dance through extensive studio training until 18. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a BFA in Dance. During her time at Illinois she performed in works by Tere O’Connor, Rebecca Nettl-Fiol, Jessica Pretty and more. She also received the Magnolia Award upon graduation. While at Illinois she had the opportunity to perform with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony. Additionally, she was a member and captain of the Illinettes Dance Team. 

 

Upon graduation Katie moved back to the Chicagoland area to pursue a career in dance. She spent four seasons dancing with Inaside Chicago Dance, and one season as a part of their Youth Training Program. In 2022 Katie became the Co-Artistic/Executive Director for The LAUNCH Chicago, and continues to work closely with their youth programming. She is extremely passionate about teaching and inspiring her students. Katie is currently the Assistant Competition Director at Duet Dance Academy as well as an instructor and choreographer. She is in her 10th year of coaching at Barrington High School, currently coaching at the Varsity level. Katie is entering her 15th summer with Universal Dance Association, which allows her to travel across the country instructing dance teams. She is also a national judge and choreographer for the company. Katie is so proud of The LAUNCH Chicago and she can’t wait for season 5 to unfold!
